fever dream, by samanta schweblin
Dec. 7th, 2018 07:40 pmI read this book all in one day (it was only 192 pages) while waiting for and riding on buses while it was BALLS COLD OUT. This probably influenced my reading a little because the fever dreamishness was enhanced.
The book is about a young woman who’s dying of fever, and the conversation she has with a neighbor’s child who could be best described as a changeling (though the book never goes there). The theme of poison is used to really good effect here, as well as Subtle Wrongness Building to Hella Wrongness.
I recommend it, particularly if you want a short, frenetic read of a horror story.
