I read this book all in one day (it was only 192 pages) while waiting for and riding on buses while it was BALLS COLD OUT. This probably influenced my reading a little because the fever dreamishness was enhanced.

The book is about a young woman who’s dying of fever, and the conversation she has with a neighbor’s child who could be best described as a changeling (though the book never goes there). The theme of poison is used to really good effect here, as well as Subtle Wrongness Building to Hella Wrongness.

I recommend it, particularly if you want a short, frenetic read of a horror story.
